Many of us take time throughout the year to honor our military and Veterans and the great sacrifice they make for our freedoms. Everest Siding and Windows is able to be the best Houston siding company because of the freedoms our soldiers fight to protect. While it is commendable to honor them at such times like Independence Day, Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day, We should help and honor our veterans every day. One of our owners, Richard Jones, served in the British Army with the parachute regiment and Special Air Services for ten years. Richard has a deep gratitude for the military and credits the military for helping him become who he is today. Due to his service in the military, and his eventual transition back into civilian life, Richard has developed a very heavy burden for ex-military men and women attempting to transition back to a normal civilian life. Richard’s heart for the men and women of the military is one of the many factors that led us to make the decision to donate $100 to the Lone Survivor Foundation every time we complete a project.
Many survivors of combat suffer great emotional trauma as well as physical injuries. PTSD and Anxiety are common among combat veterans and can leave them feeling alone and disconnected from the civilian world. A simple visit from anyone willing to sit and talk with them about anything can make all the difference in their life.
Whether you are a skilled Houston carpenter, a siding installer for a Houston siding company, or some other home improvement service, your skills could bless a veteran’s family that is in need. Many veterans need home repairs to improve their home or need modifications to their home to be wheelchair accessible. Even if you have no experience in construction or home improvement, simple chores like mowing their lawn or housekeeping can lift a burden off a family that is already dealing with so much.
Many veterans, especially elderly ones, do not have the means or ability anymore to cook their own meals among other things. Bringing them a hot meal or a care package not only nourishes their body but also uplifts their soul as well.
Many organizations in cities across the US have a program that matches up civilians who have reliable vehicles and a safe driving record with Veterans that need rides. You may be helping them get to a doctors appointment, the grocery store or to visit the V.A.
There are many organizations and non-profits that benefit our veterans. These organizations rely heavily on volunteer staff to be able to give much of the funds they raise to veterans that need assistance. In fact, Everest Window Siding is proud to be involved with one ourselves.
The Lone Survivor Foundation (LSF) is an organization we are proud to have recently become involved with. This organization aims to be a helping hand to America’s wounded soldiers and their families. They assist them in the transition to civilian life and the extreme challenges that come after being wounded during combat. Lone Survivor programs help to provide our veterans with an acceptance and understanding of their identity both as a person and a family and invite them into a community of wounded vets for support. Veterans from all branches and all wars are often challenged with conditions or injuries such as:
LSF provides ongoing support for many service members suffering from these conditions and more. In order to have the means to provide such services, LSF relies heavily on donations and volunteer staff in order to keep overhead low, so that all funds raised go towards the cause.
Please join us here at Everest Siding and Windows by volunteering with Lone Survivor Foundation or making a donation to help fund the services provided. We are more than just a Houston siding company, we are American and we are free because of the brave.Volunteer Here Donate Here
